You MUST begin FLL ANIMAL ALLIES Team Registration on-line by September 23 to be able to compete in qualifiers in Kansas City. If you have not already done so, please register your team. Kansas City team registration will close September 23. This is two weeks earlier than we have closed in the past. PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE. Even if you have not completed the Youth Protection step for the two adult coaches, it is important to begin registration so you are on record as registering a team. You will not receive any materials or be fully registered until two (2) adults have completed the Youth Protection Program. Currently, coaches are still able to edit team information. Please make sure your team name and coach contact information are accurate in the FIRST Team Registration. Please refer to this link http://eepurl.com/cbxz_f for more information about FIRST LEGO League in Kansas City.

A record number of Kansas City teams travelled to St. Louis to compete in the FIRST Worlds Championship April 27 - 30th. Four teams of the fourteen FIRST Robotics Competition teams made it to the final rounds in their field.  One team, Lee's Summit West High School, made it to the Einstein field - the field hosting the top 8 alliances out of all 600 teams.  Also, our winner of the Kansas City FIRST LEGO League Championship, Evolve, competed in St. Louis as well as 3 FIRST LEGO League Junior teams.

The field of 600 FRC teams from around the world included 14 from the Kansas City region. The competition begins with eight fields of 75 teams each. After a day of qualification rounds, the top eight teams select their alliances from the remaining teams in their division. The Lincoln College Prep Tigerbytes were selected by the top-ranked team and their alliance landed in the finalist (second place) slot on the Carver Field.

The winning alliances from each of the eight divisions moved on to the Einstein field to compete for the world championship title. This elite group included Team Titanium from Lee’s Summit West High School, which won the Archimedes division to advance to the final eight.

SWAT from Smithville High School and Team Driven from Lee’s Summit High School also reached the final rounds in their divisions.

Congratulations to all of our FIRST teams for a fantastic season of STEM in action!
