Five area teams move on from the Greater Kansas City FIRST Robotics Competition to the FIRST Worlds Championship in St. Louis to be held on April 28 and 29.  These teams are: Team Driven from Lee's Summit High School, Ravonics Revolution from Olathe Northwest High School, CTC Inspire from Fort Osage Career and Tech Center, Broncobots from Lee's Summit North High School, and Millenium Falcons from Staley High School.  Congratulations to all 60 competing teams for a great season!  For all the award winners, see https://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2017mokc#awards.   Click here for the Press Release from KC STEM Alliance.

Two Kansas City area FIRST Tech Challenge teams advanced from the State Championship over the weekend.  These teams are Team 10173 Ravonics Gemini from Olathe Northwest High School and Team 3409, Astromechs, a team of friends and family from Kansas City MO.  These teams have advanced to the FIRST Tech Challenge Super Regional in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to be held on March 31st and April 1st.  Congratulations to all the teams that competed in Rolla! Forty-eight midwestern FIRST Tech Challenge teams advanced through a qualifier system to qualify for the Regional FTC Championship taking place in Rolla, MO on March 4, 2017.  Ten of those teams are from the Kansas City area.  They include three teams from Olathe Northwest High School, two teams from Blue Valley CAPs, a Smithville High School team, a Harrisonville High School team, a team from Heritage Christian Academy in Olathe, a team from LEARN Science & Math in Kansas City MO, and the Astromechs, a team of family and friends in Kansas City MO.  These teams qualified through tournaments held at Smithville High School, Blue Valley CAPs, and Harrisonville High School. Teams had a choice of entering one of the first two qualifiers and/or attending meets to earn points to advance to a Conference qualifier which was held at Harrisonville High School.

The Kansas City FIRST LEGO League Championship took place February 25 at Metropolitan Community College - Business & Technology.  Forty-five teams from the metro area and beyond competed.  The Flying Penguins, Team 934 from Overland Park won the Champion Award.  The 2nd place Champion Award went to the S.W.A.T. Bots.  Both teams qualifiy for the FIRST Worlds Championship in St. Louis.
